POLICIES OF THE SMILING ONE FOUNDATION

The vision of the Foundation is to create and inspire a healthy, dynamic and safe South Africa for all its people - to unlock the country's full potential. We address one of our biggest challenges: CRIME. Our answer is to educate and activate Change Agents. The COC educational training offered is based on The Responsible Individual (TRI), a personal values-based leadership training programme.

ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND
The SmilingOne Foundation is a trust and registered as a non-profit organisation of a public character, established for the Object of carrying out the SmilingOne CIRCLE OF CHANGE (COC) Initiative (exclusively) for the benefit of South African Communities. The Programmes are centered around inspiring change and responsible living. In other words the Objective of the Trust will be to unlock potential.

NPO REGISTRATION
The Foundation has existed as a voluntary initiative since January 2008. Due to the huge success of the initiative a trust was founded in December 2009 and the foundation become registered as a non-profit organisation on June 14th 2010 – enabling the foundation to raise funds. Registration number 080-470 NPO.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT
The SmilingOne Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of a Managing Trustee and Board Members (total 3) responsible for the development of the Foundations strategic planning, policy development, financial management, new learning programmes and partnerships. The Board further attends to community outreach, provincial partnerships, and corporate relationships. The Board also oversees the day-to-day administration, project management, and financial management of The SmilingOne Foundation.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT / POLICY
The SmilingOne Foundations financial management is done in terms of the South African Auditing standards and audited financial statements are available. The SmilingOne Foundation contracts the services of a part time registered accountant supported by a well trained financial team which oversees the financial management of the projects. The external auditors provide oversight and monitoring. The SmilingOne Foundations auditors are: HG PAGE and Company Practice No 964700


QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Total quality management is integrated into The SmilingOne Foundations management system. Project monitoring and evaluation is part of the total quality management policy and forms an integral part of all projects and programmes. Quality management is reviewed regularly.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
